With the new year comes new engagements and wedding trends, and with one particular wedding taking over 2018 it’s no surprise that the 2019 wedding trends are basically anything Harry and Meghan did!

I’m not going to pretend I’m a wedding expert (I’m not even married!) but we hold lots of weddings here at Holiday Inn Leicester.

From small, intimate weddings and self-catered Asian weddings, to big traditional wedding celebrations, we see lots of different themes, colour schemes and you certainly pick out some new trends along the way.

As well as our experience, I did a little research into ‘what’s hot’ in weddings for 2019 and these are a few reoccurring trends I came across:

  • The Simple/Classic Wedding Dress

I guess this goes back to the royal wedding I mentioned earlier – Meghan Markle, of course, is the trend-setter in this case following her beautiful, simplistic ceremony gown and her halter neck reception dress. This trend moves away from the lace trends we saw following Kate Middleton’s wedding back in 2011 (what?! Has it really been 8 years?!). Sleeves are also making a comeback – again, thanks to Meghan!

  • Simpler Flower Arrangements

Gone are the OTT flower walls and candelabras. Wild flowers and boho-inspired arrangements are in with more subtle designs, flower displays on the table and along the aisles. Let’s face it, guests can see each other better and hold conversations without peering around/through the centrepiece, which is always a bonus!

  • Bold Colours

We’ve recently seen white or off-white dresses for bridesmaids and subtle pastel colours become a ‘thing’. But, 2019 is all about the bold, bright statement colours. Pantone has announced the 2019 colour of the year as ‘Living Coral’ so if you want your wedding to be bang on trend that’s the way to go.

Whether you’ve just got engaged (congrats!) or you’re well into your planning stage, or simply day-dreaming into the future (like me!) we are holding an evening Wedding Showcase here at Holiday Inn Leicester on Thursday 28th February.

It’s a drop-in event from 4.30pm – 8.30pm where one of our dedicated team will be on hand to show you newly refurbished suites, bedrooms and other facilities. Our Leicestershire Suite will be set up to show you what it could look like on your big day, plus there will be Prosecco and canapes for you to enjoy.

Booking for our Wedding Showcase is FREE, but it’s essential and spaces are limited so don’t miss out and register today!
